I am able to edit and proofread academic papers in the fields of arts and the humanities, as well as sociology and psychology. I am trained in using a variety of referencing systems.
Student Information
One of the first things you will need to do is check with your college/university what their policy is on proofreading. I will need to have a copy of this policy as it may affect the work that I can do.
Educational institutions will have strict rules about plagiarism and most use software to detect this in essays, dissertations and theses. It is your responsibility to make sure that the content is your own work.
Quotes need to be clearly indicated either within quotation marks, or if
indirect quotation in the student's own words, the source must be attributed in the manner dictated by your university or college.
So what can I do for you?
Yes, I can:
-
check spelling, grammar and formatting
-
ensure consistency of style, language and formatting
-
make minor changes in sentences to aid clarification
-
draw attention to areas which may need attention or further clarification. This does not include making changes to the meaning or argument of the document
I cannot:
-
rewrite, edit or rearrange sections of text
-
check facts or references
-
manage or check word count
-
change or comment on the argument or content
Obviously, all of the above will depend on the policy of your institution as mentioned above.
Non-English writers
I can ensure that your writing reads like native English, and that it makes sense in the context of your work.
