I provide a friendly and professional service for independent and self-publishing authors which can include developmental/structural editing, copy/line editing and proofreading.
So, if you have finished your manuscript or are at the 'I can't see the wood for the trees' stage, you have come to the right place.
What happens next?
I'll ask you about your writing and what your ultimate goal is, whether it is to submit to a publisher, or to publish independently. Although I specialise in working with self-publishing authors, I can also offer help and advice to those wanting to submit their work to agents or publishing houses.
Then I'll take a look at the whole manuscript and advise which editorial service would best suit you, moving forwards. I'll also give you a quote and some idea of a time frame for the proposed work.
If you are happy to go ahead, a free sample edit of a few thousand words or a chapter will follow if a copy-edit or proofread is required. In the case of a structural edit, I will give you some initial idea of areas where some of the 'bigger picture' changes could be made, and how these could be implemented.
Take a look at my Author Services page for more detail about what these services include.
If you are happy with the way I work then it's all systems go!
These initial discussions are crucial in ensuring that we can communicate clearly and that I can be sure that I am working in a way which preserves your individual style and voice, as the author.
CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Helen Sheriff and Gregg Mokrzycki on the publication of their books this autumn. It's been a privilege to work with these authors.
